For instance, if you tell them not to ride on toy cars, they may not give it importance. Consequently, parents may feel upset or angry for not being considered. Children have Different Priorities

If you expect the children to understand why taking bath every day is necessary, you will not be pleased, as they may prefer to play over having to maintain cleanliness. Similarly, the attention level or focus of children is short, so they may not be able to finish the homework. Therefore, you will have to be more than patient with them in order to make them realize the value of these small habits in addition to understanding their side.

Parent's Training

Though children have the potential to take advantage of your limits, however, if you overlook their flaws in terms of training the children to not pay attention to what you say, you may not be able to fix the issue. For instance, if you ignore every time children overstep a boundary or if they violate one of the rules, you cannot expect them to value the overall rules of the conduct. In other words, it is the weaknesses in your training that can act as the encouraging points for the children.

Children Are Misunderstood

This is another point which is neglected by parents, as children are not taken seriously either. For instance, if they try to raise a point, it may be taken as something childish. Similarly, if the child is not in a position to communicate his/her feelings, you can help them to do that. The main purpose is to look at things from their perspective; it may help you to connect with them as well. Teaching kids the best ways of reasoning is another point required to handle difficult situations.

Hidden Causes

This may not be easy to identify but if you can look for the reason that is not obvious, it may explain your why your child is not paying heed to your advice. For instance, it could be the peer pressure that drives them away from you.  Similarly, difficulty at school with one subject or busy routine could be another cause. Lastly, it does not mean that if your child is not listening to you, there has to be a story behind it, as it could be your mind playing tricks on you in terms of making you read into something that is not there. Therefore, there is no universal formula; however, paying attention is the key.
