LAS VEGAS - Sept. 27, 2017 - PRLog -- Top Notch The Health Center (THC), a minority-owned cannabis dispensary and cultivation business, has announced its sponsorship of a $5,000 grant to the Community Outreach Medical Center's (COMC) HIV/AIDS "Holistically Positive" program.

This pioneer program, scheduled to start in October 2017, will be open to all 8,800 Ryan White HIV/AIDS patients living in Southern Nevada and will focus on the positive effects of cannabis in alleviating some of the symptoms of HIV/AIDS patients. Grant money will be used to fund cannabis evaluations for medical cards, cannabis education workshops, product consulting and a dispensary tour for patients. A selection process will be used to choose patients to receive a scholarship.

COMC is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides medical and behavior services to low-income and high-risk Southern Nevada populations. In addition to running an extensive HIV/AIDS program, COMC offers prenatal care in partnership with the University of Nevada School of Medicine and University Medical Center Hospital's Baby Steps Program; cancer screenings; family planning services for women such as Pap Smears, mammograms, pregnancy tests, gynecology services and birth control and services for men that include testicular exams, prostate screening, nutritional counseling and safe-sex counseling.

Kema Ogden, a 35-year resident of Southern Nevada and Director of Outreach at Top Notch THC, recently became executive director of COMC. She is a highly regarded Las Vegas community-minded business entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded The Ogden Family Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, in 2008 along with her husband, NFL Hall of Famer Jonathan Ogden.

"We are extremely proud at Top Notch THC to provide this $5,000 grant to the Community Outreach Medical Center," Kema Ogden said. "It is very rewarding to know this money will be used to ease the pain and suffering of patients who will be eligible for the Holistically Positive program."

Top Notch THC dispensary, located at 5630 Stephanie Street in Las Vegas, recently earned a place in the "Leafly List Top 10" for the Southern Nevada region "because of your exceptional performance and high level of customer service." Additionally, Top Notch was named "2017 Best Dispensary" by Wellness Education Cannabis Advocates of Nevada (W.E.C.A.N.).

The Community Outreach Medical Center's HIV/AIDS Program, under a Ryan White "A" Clark County grant, provides eligible patients primary healthcare, medical case management, psychosocial support groups, nutritional counseling, transportation assistance, food vouchers and health education/risk reduction for low income individuals who qualify.
