PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Sept. 30, 2017 - PRLog -- With several family members visiting in the pits, Zachary Tinkle was hoping for a good night and a good show. Things started out on the right note. Tinkle was the fastest in practice – zooming around that track at more than two-tenths of a second faster than all the other cars on the track. He felt good about the car and the handling.

Tinkle came out hot for qualifying hitting a bump in the turn going onto the track recovering quickly from that, but overcorrecting further in the turn. This caused him to spin on his first qualifying lap. He went to clock a time of 16.125, putting him in fourth for qualifying. This performance helped Tinkle to secure the fastest qualifier award for the season with Central States Region Super Cups.

Heat races were 'long in the tooth' even though they were 10 laps or less. Practically every race before the super cup race had an accident that caused major damage to the car. Unfortunately, there was a slick spot that didn't get completely cleaned up in between turns three and four. Tinkle was setting up a driver to go on his outside and pass him in the straight away when he hit the slippery spot. The minicup #53 car slid across the track as if it were skating on ice and slammed into the wall of turn four ending Tinkle's race. The car had to be towed off of the track while Tinkle was taken to the ambulance. He had hit his knee on the steering column causing a large swollen area that bruised.

Because of the extensive damage to his car, Tinkle was not able to compete in the feature race. The back end was pushed over, the back axle and engine cradle were bent, front left control arms were bent along with significant body damage.  This gave him last place points minus two per the CSR Rules, which kept Tinkle's championship lead by seven points.
