Sipping Wine & Spirits On The Grove Can Help Memphis Reduce Crime

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Oct. 11, 2017 - PRLog -- Wine lovers across the Mid-South are invited to come sip and shop during Wine & Spirits on the Grove Sunday, October 22^nd at Oak Court Mall from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.  This relaxing afternoon activity provides an affordable and tasty entertainment option. Patrons can sample libations from local wineries and distributors as they vibe to music and witness some of the areas talented artists create masterpieces before their very eyes. Admission is only $5.00 and proceeds will benefit Memphis Gun Down, and its anti-crime programs to eradicate gun violence in our communities. Oak Court Mall is located at 4465 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38117.

Wine & Spirits on the Grove is a collaborative effort between Creative Solutions Unlimited and Oak Court Mall. The admission fee includes a complimentary wine glass and access to several stations to sample a variety of wines. The stores within Oak Court will be open as well for those who wish to do a little shopping while they sip. There will also be a raffle that includes a 32" smart TV and much more!

Creative Solutions Unlimited President Nina Allen-Johnson hopes people will embrace this new and exciting endeavor. "We wanted to create a relaxing Sunday afternoon event in a nice environment that would allowed the community to enjoy delicious  wine, groove to wonderful music and experience the arts while assisting a great cause. People are always saying we have to do something about the violence in Memphis. Well, this is an opportunity to raise money for an impactful initiative and that does just that," said Nina.

Memphis Gun Down is a community outreach organization that began in 2011. It provides activities for youth, advocates for policy transformation and maintains and pursues community enhancing partnerships.  Its summer component, Safe Summer, provides free activities, entertainment and food and has allowed thousands of children and families a safe fun place to go on the weekends. Held at four local community centers in high-crime areas, statistics have shown that each summer violence actually dropped in those areas while Safe Summer was being held. However, it cannot continue without adequate funding. Wine & Spirits on the Grove was created to assist with that.
