LONDON - Oct. 12, 2017 - PRLog -- Chotapeg.com – a new UK social networking site has been launched to provide fun ideas, support and light relief for grandparents who are actively involved in looking after their grandchildren. Aimed at people aged 50+, Chotapeg's (pronounced cho-ta-peg) offers grandparents a daily dose of relaxation and a place to share their thoughts and experiences with other like-minded grandparents.

Grandparents are a vital source of childcare for UK families. On average, 1 in 5 grandmothers provide at least 10 hours of childcare a week. One in 4 working families and 1 in 3 single mothers use grandparents for childcare*. With an estimated 6.3 million social network users over the age of 54 in the UK**, Chotapeg has been developed to create an online community for grandparents, many of whom are still working themselves and juggling caring for grandchildren alongside their own work and lives.

Chotapeg.com celebrates modern grandparenting with blogs from grandparents such as Frank – a London-based father of three who recently became grandad to Luca, as well as online forums to engage with other grandparents, ideas for fun activities and grandchild-friendly places to visit, and seeing the funny side of grandparenting with mispronunciations and tales of everyday adventures with grandchildren.

The name Chotapeg comes from a miniature jug used for individual servings of alcohol, dating from British colonial India at the end of the 19th Century, which was traditionally consumed at the end of the day. Chota is the Hindi word for 'small measure.' The idea of the social networking site Chotapeg.com is to provide a dose of relaxation at the end of the day whether that be a little tipple or something else – reading a book, going for a walk, yoga or catching up with friends.

Suellen Morris, Co-founder of Chotapeg, said: "Grandparents play such a vital role in caring for children and we're delighted to offer them a daily dose of relaxation with Chotapeg. We wanted to create a community online for modern grandparents where they can learn, laugh and share their experiences with others who are all doing the same things and making such an important contribution to the lives of their grandchildren."
