By: Civil Air Patrol Connecticut Wing Lieutenant Colonel Bob Hoar, Incident Commander for the exercise, held an early morning briefing at mission headquarters, located at Brainard Airport, Hartford, Conn., to outline overall mission and training goals. Air crews launched promptly, successfully conducting photography runs of key Connecticut roadways, bridges and dams while ground teams were tasked to search for distress signals emanating from emergency locator transmitter's onboard simulated downed aircraft. Operations continued throughout the day, with additional air crews and ground teams deploying for successive missions. Civil Air Patrol instructors also held on site classroom training in areas such as ground team skills and aerial photography to augment the day's field exercises. "I want to thank everybody for coming out and participating in this training," said Hoar at the end of day briefing. "Teams worked hard all day to accomplish objectives and Connecticut Wing appreciates your efforts."
