Positive Romantic Comedy Film Tackles Sexual Harassment of Women Themes

NOVI, Mich. - Dec. 12, 2017 - PRLog -- The premiere of ANNALIESE! ANNALIESE! The Backstory Webisodes (a 45-minute motion picture featurette) will be held at the Farmington Civic Theater, Farmington, MI on January 28 at 2:30 PM. This also coincides with the launch of an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign to finance the full-length movie that continues Annaliese's search for a life away from sexually harassing and abusive men. Having been turned down by three convents in the webisodes, the full-length movie tells how Annaliese recruits Bradley, the gay guy next door, to help her be a nun one last time. Her goal is to get into the Convent of the Perpetual Virgin. But before they let her in she has to date five guys to make sure she's nun material. So, Bradley sets her up on a series of blind dates, and misadventures follow.

The overarching story and scripts come from veteran indie movie producer and Hollywood script consultant, Stan Williams, of Novi, Michigan. Williams explains, "When we finished the feature screenplay, we had the same problem faced by every other filmmaker. Although we had written ANNALIESE! ANNALIESE! as an ultra-low budget movie, we still didn't have enough money to make it."

It was then that the filmmakers realized they had an opportunity. As Williams tells it, the feature script was implicitly rich with funny scenes about Annaliese's backstory and the reasons she hated men so much. "She was beautiful and she had brains, and although the harassment and abuse was not funny, how she dealt with it was—she didn't accept it, she fought it, and so confidently we came to love her for it."

So, Williams and his creative team decided to produce a few short films about Annaliese's backstory. But when they were done they realized they had what is technically known as a featurette (a film longer than 40 minutes but shorter than a full-length movie). That's when they decided to premiere the project at a theater and launch the crowd funding campaign for the movie at the same time.

Williams made his mark both in Michigan as an award-winning documentary producer who produced and directed hundreds of projects for industry and non-profits. He is also the author of a popular Hollywood trade book on story and screenplay structure that resulted in him working personally with Will Smith on over a dozen major Hollywood films.
