Pomegranate Pictures Announces Agreement with Santa Monica-Based Buffalo 8 Productions

NORTHVILLE, Mich. - April 22, 2020 - PRLog -- Pomegranate Pictures, a partnership of Weam Namou (Sterling Heights, MI) and Stan Williams (Northville, Michigan), have signed an agreement with Buffalo 8 Productions (Santa Monica, CA) to Executive Produce the movie Pomegranate along with SWC Films.

Buffalo 8 was founded by partners Matthew Helderman and Luke Taylor as a full-service film, television, and media company focused on production, post-production, design, and finance based in Santa Monica, California. Buffalo 8 projects have been premiered and been awarded at Sundance, Berlin, Toronto, Tribeca and SXSW. Buffalo 8 provides an entrepreneurial culture fused with a love of storytelling, the creative arts, and a passion for delivering original stories. Buffalo 8 is partnered with industry leading BondIt Media Capital enabling streamlined packaging, production, financing, and sales opportunities.

POMEGRANATE is the story of Niran, a young, Muslim refugee from Iraq, who with her family, has immigrated to the United States during the presidential election of 2016 between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. They settle in Sterling Heights, Michigan where there is a large Iraqi settlement. The only problem is that they happen to rent a house in a Chaldean (Iraqi Christian) neighborhood.

Weam Namou (writer-director) conceived Pomegranate from her real-life experience as an Iraqi immigrant. She brought her screenplay to veteran film producer and Hollywood script consultant Dr. Stan Williams, who in turn brought the property to Santa Monica-based Buffalo 8 Productions whose team will act as executive producers along with Williams. Namou is an accomplished author of 13 books, a documentary producer, and the host of a long-running TV interview show that explores the intersection of Arab and American cultures. Weam will direct under her Namou Productions shingle.

Stan Williams is a veteran documentary film, television, and show producer of over 400 projects. His screenplay structure book, The Moral Premise: Harnessing Virtue and Vice for Box Office Success (Michael Wise books) is used throughout the industry and referred to by Will Smith as the "most important tool in my toolbox." As a story and screenplay consultant he had contributed to films that have earned over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. Stan Will produce under his SWC Films.
