By: TONE Networks TONE Networks' Procrastination Coach, Dr. Christine Li, a clinical psychologist, says these five simple tips can help you stop feeling stuck and start making progress: 1. Let go of how things "should" be. Shorten your to-do list by focusing on "musts" to make it more manageable. 2. Take two deep breaths. Put some distance between feeling overwhelmed and what needs to be accomplished. You've probably done more than you think. 3. Stop comparing yourself to others. Everyone has friends who have finished their shopping and had the tree decorated since the day after Thanksgiving. That is their norm and does not have to be yours. 4. Envision a successful holiday and you'll be that much closer to enjoying the season. The power of positive thinking is very motivating. 5. Ask for help! Children, co-workers and friends (especially those who have their own holidays under control) genuinely want to help if you tell them what you need. This is true year-round. "No matter where you are on your holiday to-do list, the season can still be salvaged," says Dr. Li. "It all starts with being realistic." TONE Networks, a subscription- End
