Alternative Observer Hopes to Reinvent News

SAN DIEGO - Jan. 13, 2018 - PRLog -- Innovative Media Productions has launched their new site, Alternative Observer, as a feature-rich platform where users can submit news and vote on articles, based on the quality and factuality of the content.

Their goal is to involve readers in the vetting and fact-checking process, by allowing  to vote them up or down, similar to Reddit. Innovative Media said they plan to combat the kind of fake news that is prevalent on sites like Before Its News, Natural News, InfoWars, etc by encouraging the use of fact-checking tools like Politifact and  Snopes.

A team of moderators and quality engineers will be tasked with filtering out racist slurs and hatespeech, to prevent the site's "uncensored" approach from leading to abuse that would harm the platform and its users.

While browsing the site, I was pleased to find that I could sign up using Facebook, Google or Twitter, and that the process for posting an article was very simple and straightforward. By the time I had finished filling out my author profile, I had accrued points for my actions on the site. Turns out I can use these points to tip other users, or to "boost" my own posts higher up in their category for increased visibility.
