By: Fire & Rain The idea behind the concept is that the widowed still want to go on holidays but not necessarily on their own, nor with people who want to help but still have their "normal" life….and least of all on a singles holiday where the focus is on finding a new partner. The New Age, clean-eating type of retreats aren't everybody's cup of tea either. Fire & Rain offers luxury accommodation in stunning locations, freshly prepared gourmet food and a light touch programme of walks, excursions and creative activities. The Soul Spas offer a "safe space" and leave plenty time to just drift and go with the flow. Owner Ute Amann-Seidel who lost her fiancé very suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 50 says "At around one and a half years into this journey I had never signed up for, I realised how far I'd come and that I needed to make major changes to my life. Through Fire & Rain Soul Spas I want to share with others what has helped me – especially a more mindful way of living and soaking in the healing effects of nature." Sheila Rae, bereavement counsellor, adds "It sounds really intriguing and will certainly fill a gap in the market. People often find it a real stumbling block to even contemplate going on holiday on their own following a bereavement, but it may be easier if they thought they were going to be with people who have had a similar experience." Feedback from the first soul spa confirmed guests had got exactly what they needed "Going on holiday for the first time since Jon died was never going to be easy. I'm so glad I found Fire & Rain…thank you Ute for having the inspiration to do this & for your artistic flair. Thank you Alison for the amazing food. Thank you both for your openness and wisdom." In 2018 two new locations - on the Hebridean island of Mull and Chateau St Michel in Saint-Lizier in the Ariége region in France - have been added, also a new type of soul spa which includes a mindfulness course led by Dr. Avinash Bansode.
