ATLANTA - Jan. 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Today, Opt IN USA released its 2017/2018 winter report titled "Judicial Impunity:  A Likely Inadvertent but Deadly Failure of American Democracy".  Opt IN USA is a U.S. foreign policy reform, judicial accountability, and human rights campaign.  Its sixteen (16) page report plus appendix cites the campaign's 2016 report (totaling 73 pages with appendix), recent social science research findings, new anecdotal evidence, and new empirical data claiming to establish a de facto policy of judicial impunity with regard to U.S. legal system abuse facilitated by unchecked judicial misconduct.  Author of the legal and public policy analysis is Zena Crenshaw-Logal, an attorney before the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, a founder and Executive Director of National Judicial Conduct and Disability Law Project, Inc. (NJCDLP), the nonprofit corporate sponsor of Opt IN USA.

According to Opt IN USA's latest report "the results of inadequate judicial oversight/accountability in America can be devastating for direct targets of episodic or persistent U.S. legal system abuse, which harm may precipitate damage that endures for generations.  In fact by (the) report and in light of its findings to date, Opt IN USA submits that inadequate judicial oversight in America has prompted and will prompt enough premature stress, trauma, and psychological torture-related deaths to be the proximate cause of an American Holocaust". Crenshaw-Logal is submitting the report to the U.N. Human Rights Council (HRC) as a complainant and on behalf of directly impacted Americans. Immediate relief and reparations are being sought.

Crenshaw-Logal explained, "enlisting the HRC's support is part of getting Opt IN USA's concerns firmly on the radar of, and shared by human rights, pro-democracy, and anti-corruption advocates around the world."  She indicates that Opt IN USA will be coordinating widespread community mobilizing for an intense public awareness campaign and lobbying effort to garner support.  Crenshaw-Logal acknowledges that Opt IN USA constituents have grown weary of lobbying for meaningful U.S. legal system reform and appropriate judicial accountability, largely in vain.  But she notes that "our only non-violent recourse is public interest lobbying and the ballot box until America ratifies treaty provisions known as Optional Protocols that allow Americans to enforce our country's human rights treaties through binding U.N. procedures."  Crenshaw-Logal adds, "a 2014 study cited by Opt IN USA's 2017/2018 winter report confirms that NJCDLP's commitment to organized lobbying based on expert legal and public policy analyses as well as social science research prompts government reform in the U.S. far more readily than individual outreach by average Americans."
