BRISTOL, U.K. - Feb. 8, 2018 - PRLog -- The Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS), a specialist in digitally enabled high value design capability, has today announced the appointment of Kiran Krishnamurthy, Domain Specialist in Artificial Intelligence.

Kiran will lead the development of the company's Artificial Intelligence capabilities. He will also be responsible for embedding data science technologies into all aspects of the CFMS industrial digitalisation programme driving productivity improvements for client companies. Kiran commented, "As a disruptive technology, artificial intelligence will enable significant benefits in the digitalisation of industrial processes. One of the key factors behind the current widespread proliferation of artificial intelligence is its 'cross-domain cross technology, collaborative and innovative' nature, which is intrinsic to CFMS, and its approach as a neutral, not-for-profit organisation. This is a very exciting time and I look forward to joining the team."

In his prior role at Airbus Group Innovations (AGI) as a Data Science and Digital Transformation Consultant, Kiran was responsible for the exploration of emerging technologies that enable the digitalisation of industrial processes. During his time at AGI he was involved in the research and development of A350, A380, A400M and A30x aircraft programmes. With extensive experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced analytics, he has worked with organisations including IBM, Dassault Systems, and Tata Technologies throughout his career.

The application of artificial intelligence will transform design, engineering and manufacturing processes, unlocking new business models through new digital services. A recent report released by UK Government 'Growing the Artificial Intelligence Industry in the UK (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/growing-the-ar...),  identifies the potential contribution of up to £630bn to the UK economy by 2035 and an increase in the annual growth rate of GVA from 2.5% - 3.9%.

Ian Risk, Chief Technology Officer, commented, "Kiran's appointment highlights the aspiring interest and desire from industry to automate and digitalise complex engineering design and manufacturing tasks, increasing productivity and efficiency. I am delighted to welcome him to CFMS."

Sam Paice, Chief Operating Officer, commented, "The adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence are crucial to UK organisations, advancing innovation capability and strategic advantage in the global marketplace. Through our highly configurable technical environment and digital twin systems, we can demonstrate application and feasibility of using new technologies to accelerate the product development process for engineering design and manufacture."
