New Children's Book honored by Prestigious Mom's Choice Awards®

"The Villains of Splazat," written in memory of the "beautiful Souls" of Sandy Hook, reveals the power of words and imagination

SAN ANTONIO - March 1, 2018 - PRLog -- The globally recognized Mom's ChoiceAwards®(MCA) organization announced that the children's adventure book, "The Villains of Splazat," written by Jesse Arrington III was chosen as a "silver medallion" honoree for their coveted Mom's Choice Award®. The MCA evaluates products and services created for parents, children and educators and are globally recognized for establishing the "benchmark for excellence."

"The Villains of Splazat" tells the amazing story of a little boy named Matt Murat of Turkish heritage along with his two best companions, a gorgeous cat named Tit-for-tat and a velvet wing bat named Pat who decides to walk all the way to Splazat to save its poor bats and gnats. An evil sorceress name Whinchat and her henchmen, Nat the rat and his army of fratty rats rule Splazat through threat and intimidation, destroying the once beautiful and peaceful village. When Matt and his friends arrive, terror and mayhem break out when the brave trio's cover is exposed!  Whinchat dispatches her minions of rats to attack the intruders! The tables turn abruptly, however, in this inspiring and surprise ending in the "Villains of Splazat." The book's illustrations, created by Arrington, are colorful and meticulously rendered by Archway Publishing from Simon and Schuster.

The "Villains of Splazat" is unique from start to finish in its alluring storyline where every sentence ends in the letters "at", if you have not already guessed. Rhyming tongue twisters and a daring vocabulary is sure to send children, parents and educators to its glossary in the back pages explaining the meaning and pronunciation of words like "ziggurat" and "lumpenproletariat!" The words start out easy but as the story unfolds, the words become increasingly challenging.

Arrington calls his new book "edutainment," meaning, "the books is both educational and entertaining and intended to be funny when read out loud," Arrington said.  He quoted Albert Einstein who once said, 'Imagination is more important than knowledge,' so Arrington dedicated his book, "to the memory of the beautiful souls of Sandy Hook Elementary school and parents and children everywhere who, like Einstein possess that boundless imaginary spirit of star gazing, discovery, phantasy and make believe." The books very first purchaser is a school board member of Sandy Hook Elementary, Arrington said modestly. Arrington, a Viet Nam veteran, a former

preschool and middle school teacher, park ranger and superintendent in Fairbanks, Alaska, is now retired from the National Park Service.  He lives in San Antonio, Texas and has three sons.

The "Villains of Splazat" is available at www.archwaypublishing.com/ online bookstore, Amazon and all major booksellers in hard, soft cover and e-book. Arrington has two coming books, "The Little Witch Who Couldn't Fly Her Broom" and "The Little Door In the Big Door of the Back Door Next Door."
