Substance Use Disorders Worsening in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. - March 26, 2018 - PRLog -- Fresno officials recently met to address one of the most serious issues of their area — substance use disorders.

They used the opportunity to highlight that there's been an increase in the number of Fresno residents struggling with substance use disorders for more than a decade now.

Fresno seems to be following the national patterns when it comes to drug addiction, they said, and opioids are found to be linked to most cases of substance use disorder.

The professionals explained that most locals in addiction treatment center developed an addiction after they were prescribed opioid painkillers.

Several addiction specialists said they believe addiction treatment works but the people need to know about the available methods to succeed.

Holistic approaches to treating substance use disorders were also promoted in the event.

The specialists highlighted that unusual, alternative practices such as art or music therapy can be beneficial for individuals in recovery.

One doctor explained that for most people, exercise is an easy method to boost recovery.

The Fresno County District Attorney took the center stage to promote education surrounding substance use disorders in addition to addressing the fact that drug addiction is a problem that can affect all people.
