Veteran News Anchor Monica Pearson Hosts the AIB Network's Televised Allen Awards

ATLANTA - April 5, 2018 - PRLog -- The AIB Network's 2018 John Houston Allen Awards will be hosted by veteran news anchor and journalist Monica Pearson at the Southwest Performing Arts Center at 7 PM. The Allen Awards premiere on the AIB Network on May 6, 2018.

Monica Pearson was the first African American woman to anchor the daily evening news in Atlanta, Georgia and worked for 37 years at the leading station WSB-TV. "She is a staple not only on Atlanta's airwaves but also in Atlanta's communities. We are honored by her participation in this year's festivities," says AIB President and CEO Collie Burnett.

In addition to recognizing community leaders making a positive impact, the Allen Awards will also recognize rising filmmakers and producers that embody achievement in mind/body/spirit/entertainment using his or her creative gifts to make our world better through film shorts that stimulates the mind, strengthens the body and/or inspires the spirit. The award is divided into two (2) categories – 18+ and 17 and under; a winner will be selected from each category.

The Allen Awards is AIB Network's signature event and fundraiser named after AIB's founder John Houston Allen. The awards program will recognize and celebrate the greater Atlanta nonprofit community, including faith-based and interfaith organizations, and their efforts to improve lives by building bridges of understanding, valuing diversity and challenging us to make a difference in the lives of others.

The Allen Awards take place April 19, 2018 at 7:00PM. The television premiere is May 6, 2018.
