Nationally recognized attorney in commercial insolvency and reorganization joins Kolesar & Leatham

 
LAS VEGAS - April 16, 2018 - PRLog -- Kolesar & Leatham, one of Nevada's largest independent law firms, announces James Patrick Shea has joined the firm as Shareholder and Chair of the Creditors' Rights, Financial Restructuring and Bankruptcy group.  The Creditors' Rights practice group of Kolesar & Leatham is one of the oldest and most respected in Nevada.

Shea joins Kolesar & Leatham with more than 35 years of experience advising financial institutions, landlords, vendors and other creditors in business bankruptcy proceedings.  He advises clients in commercial litigation relating to debtor-creditor relationships and assists clients in enforcing their rights inside and outside of insolvency proceedings, including reorganizations, liquidations, receiverships and informal out-of-court resolutions.

Prior to joining Kolesar & Leatham, Shea was a Partner at Armstrong Teasdale LLP for nearly five years. He served as Managing Shareholder of Shea & Carlyon from 1996 to 2013; and he began his legal career in 1982 at Gordon Silver, Ltd., earning both partnership and serving on the firm's Executive Committee prior to his departure in 1996.

Nationally recognized in the field of commercial insolvency and reorganization, Shea is the current Chairman of the Board and has served as the President and Immediate Past President, of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI); the nation's largest association of bankruptcy professionals with more than 13,000 members.

Shea is the founding Chairman and current Vice Chairman of the State Bar of Nevada's Bankruptcy Law Section. He served as co-chair of the Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representatives for the District of Nevada while serving the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference Executive Committee.

He received a Bachelor's degree in history at the University of Arizona and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law.
