Follow on Google News | Lehigh Acres Middle School invites community leaders to STEAM Brainstorming Breakfast on April 19By: Lehigh Acres Middle School School administrators and teachers are soliciting input from business and community leaders as they seek to integrate more STEAM events, activities, lessons and guest speakers into classroom instruction. Lehigh Acres Middle is a newly designated STEAM magnet school for the East Attendance Zone. "We are hosting our first-ever summer STEAM Camp in June, and we will be offering a variety of classes covering environmental science, forensic science, robotics, culinary arts and more," said Principal Neketa Watson. "We want to incorporate that type of high-level instruction into our daily curriculum, but we need more input from community members who work in those fields as we develop our curriculum for the 2018-19 school year." The School District of Lee County was among 32 school systems in the United States to receive funding through the 2017 Magnet Schools Assistance Program. District administration authorized the creation of Lehigh Acres Middle's STEAM program through the funds. The STEAM Brainstorming Breakfast begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 19 at Lehigh Acres Middle School, 104 Arthur Ave. in Lehigh Acres. The continental breakfast and discussion are free, but registration is required. For more information, please call Monica Walker at 239-369-6108 or email monicalw@leeschools.net by April 17.
