educogym Canary Wharf discuss NHS cancer treatment delays and the risks to patients

It has been revealed that the UK is not reaching its 62 day cancer treatment target, educogym Canary Wharf discuss the risks this has on patients.

CANARY WHARF, U.K. - May 10, 2018 - PRLog -- Experts have said the NHS is struggling to see patients quick enough, leading to delays and serious implications to patients. The NHS is supposed to begin treatment within 62 days of cancer being suspected, however some patients are waiting up to 8 months with disastrous consequences. "Many of us have know someone that has been through cancer, and most of us know that the key to survival is getting treatment started quickly to stop the growth and spread of the cancer, 62 days is the target to begin treatment to keep survival rates high, and new plans were introduced to lower it to 4 weeks over 5 years to increase survival rates further, but clearly that is going to be a struggle if the 62 day target hasn't been hit in England in years" explained Orlstyne Wilson, personal trainer at educogym Canary Wharf.

The population is growing, and so cancer cases are increasing, along with shortage of staff, in particular specialised doctors and nurses in chemotherapy, along with the NHS being over run in general, and the increased use of A&E means beds are being taken up leaving no space for those to have a bed after surgery and treatment "It is a very sad statistic, and must be very distressing for patients, in England the target was last hit n December 2015, which shows just how bad things are getting. A patient in 2017 had to wait 8 months for treatment, but by the time the treatment was started his cancer was diagnosed as terminal, it is a serious issue that the government and NHS are supposedly working on, but to see the targets from years ago aren't even being hit just makes a five year plan look impossible without additional change" explained Godfrey Nurse, personal trainer at educogym Canary Wharf.

As individuals, the public cannot directly help the situation, however you can look after yourself to lower your own risk of cancer. "Many people are unaware of the most common causes of cancer, and 4 in 10 cancers can be prevented according to cancer research UK, being overweight, smoking, UV exposure and alcohol are just many examples of things that can cause cancer. 360,000 cases of cancer are reported every year. Which means 150.000 could be avoided through lifestyle changes. At educogym Canary Wharf we promote healthy living, being at a healthy body fat % and not obese or overweight, it is vital not just for your body image but your health too" explained Orlstyne Wilson, personal trainer at educogym Canary Wharf.
