United Premier Soccer League Names Paul Lapointe as New National Director

LOS ANGELES - May 17, 2018 - PRLog -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Lapointe as National Director.

Lapointe accepts this promotion after previously serving as the UPSL's Northeast Conference Operations Manager from 2017-'18.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "Paul Lapointe has been pivotal in establishing a foothold for the UPSL in the Northeast. His overall support and promotion of the UPSL during our recent period of tremendous growth has proven his commitment. We feel now is the time to move Paul into a position that will enable him to grow and support the league even more, and we want to welcome Paul as our new National Director."

LaPointe, 55, recently ran for United State Soccer Federations (USSF) President, and has continued his fight for American soccer and American futsal with the UPSL and AMFUSA.

UPSL National Director Paul Lapointe said, "I'm honored and privileged to support the UPSL at a national level, and to usher in new business expansion in full support of President Leonel Lopez and Commissioner Yan Skwara. Soccer culture toward the ultimate goal of a unified Promotion/Relegations structure founded upon the UPSL's Pro/Rel Model. From there the focus goes from the smallest UPSL benches to the biggest UPSL board rooms as the UPSL continues its growth into communities across the great country. A long-time soccer club owner (Massachusetts Twisters), and director of the American Indoor Soccer League (AISL) based in Massachusetts, Lapointe is well known in Western Massachusetts as the owner of an automobile dealership and repair facility.

LaPointe will promote UPSL's Pro Development structure to clubs that fit with the league's model and continue to work on securing nationwide sponsorships, among his other roles.

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 170 teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 200-plus teams targeted for 2018 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
