ASHEVILLE, N.C. - May 21, 2018 - PRLog -- With the first crops of the season sprouting throughout Western North Carolina, farmers are busy getting their CSA's ready for delivery - and in West Asheville, a local tea company is also checking her harvest.

Asheville Tea Company will introduce the first local Tea CSA in Spring 2018.

"We are a farm-to-teacup business, so we wanted to provide a new way for customers to enjoy the flavors of the season, and to learn more about tea and herbal tea," said Jessie Dean, owner of Asheville Tea Company. "It is a great way for a tea lover, or someone new to tea and herbal infusions, to try all kinds of blends, specially curated each month, and find the ones they love."

Like local vegetable CSA's, Asheville Tea Company will offer multiple options throughout the year to feature seasonal ingredients including their three-month Spring/Summer CSA, a three-month fall CSA or a 6 month CSA running throughout the spring/summer/fall seasons.

Each Tea CSA features three monthly loose leaf teas from the main or seasonal tea line and a tea infuser with the first box. Also, special samples of new or super-small-batch blends, exclusive Tea CSA member blends, recipe ideas, fresh herb bundles for garnishes or sun tea and tea discounts for our other blends at tailgate markets.

In additional to the flagship blends, the seasonals in the spring/summer Tea CSA will include Mint Julep, a classic iced tea blend with two types of local mint and orange peel, Lavender Limoncello, a blend of local lemongrass, lemon balm, lemon peel, lavender flower and juniper berry and Hibiscus Mojito, local hibiscus, mojito mint, peppermint, lime basil, and lime peel.

"Many of our teas are great hot or iced, but we are excited to offer this line of teas specifically blended for a nice cold, refreshing drink on a hot day," Dean said. They're great served in a high ball on ice with a sprig of herbs, or made into a mixer for your own craft cocktail."

Tea CSA also helps support the folks that grow all the goodies: our local farmers.

"Just like a vegetable CSA, the up front income from the Tea CSA allows us to put those dollars directly into buying the freshest ingredients directly from local farms at the start of the growing season," Dean said. "This means we can focus on blending the best and freshest cups of tea we can."

Asheville Tea Company's first spring/summer CSA orders ship May 22. The deadline for the Spring Tea CSA is May 28. For more information and to find out more about locally-sourced teas and tisanes, visit www.ashevilleteacompany.com

By 2016, her first line of "craft teas" were ready to serve. In partnering with local farmers and proprietors, Asheville Tea Company blends organic herbs, botanicals and small batch artisanal offerings to bring the flavors of Asheville into each of our handcrafted teas.
