US trade in goods with Russia in 2017

June 8, 2018 - PRLog -- In 2017, US trade with Russia totaled $24.7 billion, up 17.35% ($3.7 billion) from 2016.

US exports to Russia in 2017 totaled $7.0 billion, up 20.52% ($1.2 billion) from 2016.

US imports from Russia in 2017 totaled $17.7 billion, up 16.15% ($2.5 billion) from 2016.

US trade deficit with Russia in 2017 was $10.7 billion, a 13.47% increase ($1.3 billion) over 2016.

Russia was the US 29th largest trading partner in 2017 (up from 30th in 2016), accounting for 0.6249% of US total trade (up from 0.5687% in 2016).

Russia was the US 34th largest export market in 2017 (up from 38th in 2016), accounting for 0.4519% of US total exports (up from 0.3990% in 2016).

Russia was the US 23rd largest supplier in 2017 (up from 24th in 2016), accounting for 0.7359% of US total imports (up from 0.6783% in 2016).

The major share of US exports to Russia in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
• Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 75.69% of US total exports to Russia (72.49% in 2016);
• Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.03% of US total exports to Russia (13.89% in 2016);
• Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.77% of US total exports to Russia (4.29% in 2016).

The largest gains in US exports to Russia in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
• Aircraft, spacecraft, and parts thereof (HS code 88) - an increase of $1,012.4 million;
• Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $75.2 million;
• Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $68.4 million.
