US trade in goods with Iran in 2018

NEW YORK - June 12, 2019 - PRLog -- In 2018, US trade with Iran totaled $509.3 million, up 151.63% ($306.9 million) from 2017.

US exports to Iran in 2018 totaled $438.6 million, up 218.51% ($300.9 million) from 2017.

US imports from Iran in 2018 totaled $70.7 million, up 9.30% ($6.0 million) from 2017.

US trade surplus with Iran in 2018 was $367.9 million, a 403.95% increase ($294.9 million) over 2017.

Iran was the US 122nd largest trading partner in 2018 (up from 144th in 2017), accounting for 0.0119% of US total trade (up from 0.0051% in 2017).

Iran was the US 105th largest export market in 2018 (up from 130th in 2017), accounting for 0.0263% of US total exports (up from 0.0089% in 2017).

Iran was the US 133rd largest supplier in 2018 (up from 135th in 2017), accounting for 0.0027% of US total imports (just as in 2017).

The major share of US exports to Iran in 2018 (and in 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 81.23% of US total exports to Iran (52.97% in 2017);
Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.02% of US total exports to Iran (11.21% in 2017);
Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.76% of US total exports to Iran (13.52% in 2017);
Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.88% of US total exports to Iran (21.95% in 2017).

The major share of US imports from Iran in 2018 (and in 2017) was accounted for the following product types:
Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 82.45% of US total imports from Iran (84.00% in 2017);
Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 7.18% of US total imports from Iran (6.59% in 2017).
