By: Pade For Governor 2018 My team and I do understand your consternation as to how such a great and industrious people hosting essentially a hub of commercial activities and center of tourism in Nigeria, have turned into such a decrepit state that continues to witness catastrophic socio-economic declines, sliding abysmally with no hope of recovery. As active participants in the economy, we concluded that the situation does not describe the heritage of Osun State. Hence, we must arrest the decline and reverse the direction to reinvent the humanity and pride of our people. I was fostered by the leadership of this movement. Following wide consultations, I am happy to announce to you that I accept the challenge. I am therefore offering myself to run for the office of the Executive Governor of Osun State of Nigeria in 2018. As a farmer in Osun State, I understand the dynamics of the economic deprivation that continues to plague our State. I dare to suggest to you that we are not a poor state, neither are we a poor people. Not only are we blessed with wonderful opportunities and resources, we are born a great people. However, certain sections of our community have gone beyond hijacking our economy; they have used deprivation to twist our minds to accepting poverty as a way of life. This may sound convoluted, and I will attempt a short explanation. It is important to understand the greater economic benefit of paying wages to workers and its relevance in maintaining the smooth running of the community. Public servants are not the largest segment of our economy. Not everyone works for the government, yet, a large segment depends on those working for the government to pay their bills. Therefore, just like we do not recognize the immediate contribution of the engine oil in a vehicle. The engine oil must be present before fuel can power a vehicle. We are always more conscious of filling up the gas tank as if the fuel solves all the problems. We do not care too much about the engine oil until we discover that the vehicle is about to give up because it lacks engine oil. This is the value of the wages paid to our public servants. It must be routine, it must always be present for the economy to run appropriately. The smooth running of our economy. Therefore, in modern economies, no one, not businesses, not the government, should ever owe workers their wages in Osun State EVER again. We must make that the law in our land. Yes, there will be government investments in infrastructures, but we should never do so at the expense of the people. Never again should a foreigner tell us how to take care of our own people. We must do so without being told. My administration will be people focused, our development plan will be based on the development of the well-being of the people of Osun start making sure that no employer including government will owe workers' wages (https://www.youtube.com/ This sets the tone for my appeal to you to support Pade Okunola and vote massively for the Accord Party ticket. It is the way to install sustainable development for Osun State through transformational changes anchored on the PADE principles. The PADE principles are a fundamental wake-up call for the Osun people to reject the mindset that accepts poverty as a way of life, and to remember that we are a people of enviable socio-cultural and economic heritage: P stands for Progress for the Osun people A stands for Accountability in governance D stands for a determined Dedication to uplifting the people of Osun E stands for Excellence in leadership The PADE principles will guide every deliberation that we engage in as we determine lasting solutions to the challenges facing Osun State. The 'Pade For Osun Governor' Team has outlined its proposal to the Accord Party leadership who are reviewing the future directive policy that will govern Osun State when we take office in November 2018. Even then, I can give you some insight into our ideas at this time. Our immediate challenge is to develop and implement a system that guarantees payment of salaries and pensions that never fails again in Osun State. I am saying that we are going to pay up any, and all arrears, and we are going to introduce a mechanism that makes sure that even private companies cannot owe anyone their wages under any circumstances in the future in Osun State of Nigeria (https://www.youtube.com/ [END OF PART 1] - Full text on our website - padeforgovernor.com I submit Julius Olapade Okunola End
