The Ntl Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc. To Hold Its 85th Annual Session in Dallas, TX

DALLAS - July 12, 2018 - PRLog -- Gospel music lovers from around the globe will make their way to Dallas, Texas for the 85^th annual National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc., (NCGCC) from August 4-10, 2018, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, 400 North Olive Street.  It is the oldest gospel music organization in the world led by National President, Dr. Marabeth E. Gentry, and is the culmination of the life's work of Dr. Thomas A. Dorsey, known as the Father of Gospel Music. He was one of the first to combine evangelical testimonies with hymnal melodies and idioms of blues and jazz tonality to form the soul-stirring musical concoction he coined as "Gospel Music." Because of his numerous musical compositions, founding of the NCGCC, promotion of countless gospel artists and choirs and business acumen, Dr. Dorsey is the person responsible for the worldwide recognition of gospel music.

The annual weeklong convention brings together clergy, songwriters, educators, choirs, directors    and music insiders from around the world.  It provides a venue for them to network, submit their work, learn new songs, hone skills and worship just as Dorsey intended at NCGCC's inception.

On Saturday, NCGCC begins with community outreach at Dallas Life, a nonprofit organization founded in 1954. This year, NCGCC is rolling out the red carpet in celebration of their 85^th Convention which includes a late-night musical on Saturday evening at 9:00 p.m. (free will offering).  We invite you to join us on Monday for our Consecration Service starting at 9 a.m. (white attire). Monday Night is "A Taste of Dallas Metroplex" Musical Service and Awards Presentations honoring Dallas gospel writers, artists and contributors (free will offering).  Each evening will be filled with the soulful, powerful sound of gospel choirs and groups each having their own distinctions.  The week's events consist of daily classes and workshops, plenary sessions featuring world-renowned musical artists and guest speakers, nightly concerts and a host of other events for all ages.
