Follow on Google News | 3 out of 4 babies and toddlers are being over fed by their parents - Educogym Canary Wharf discussChildhood obesity is a growing problem, a problem that needs to be tackled from birth according to public health England, and educogym Canary Wharf agree.
A very clear scientific link shows that being overweight in childhood makes you more likely to be overweight in adult life, however a link to the earlier years has not been proven yet. "The society we live in makes it very hard on new parents, from the day your baby is born it is all about your baby eating enough and gaining weight, this creates a program in your mind that your baby, throughout their early years should eat as much as possible, for a newborn it is the case of feed them as much as they want, but it isn't clear to parents at what point this should stop, whether its one, two, or three years old. The idea of seeing your baby eat is a positive for parents, and for many it's the line 'I don't care what they eat as long as they eat' rather than the fear of them being hungry, and so unhealthy or non nutritious food is fed to them because a parent 'knows' they will eat it rather than waiting it out to feed them nutritious food" explained Godfrey Nurse, educogym Canary Wharf personal trainer. So who is to blame? Social media? The news? The NHS? The government? The parents? "I definitely don't blame the parents, they are in the toughest stages of their lives with a new person to provide for and nourish, it is a mixture of education and the media and advertising, if a label says for kids or babies, of course you would believe it to be healthy for your toddler, however even this products can be pumped with sugar, there is also a lack of education to parents about how much sugar is in certain foods and how much their toddler or baby is eating, things like little yoghurt pots can be full of sugar, if a baby or toddler has a few of those in a day they re well ove their daily allowance before eating any other foods and their parents are oblivious, packaging should be made a lot clearer in regards to children and sugar intake" confirmed Orlstyne Wilson, personal trainer at educogym Canary Wharf. Do you have a baby or toddler and need some guidance on quick easy meals that don't fill your child with sugar? Educogym Canary Wharf can help. http://educogymcanarywharf.com/ End
