Safeguard Self Storage Completes the Purchase of Land for a New Facility in Plainview, New York

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. - Aug. 2, 2018 - PRLog -- Safeguard Self Storage has announced the purchase, on July 26th, 2018, of a land parcel on which it will build a new self-storage facility.  Located on Old Country Road in Plainview, New York, about ten miles north of its Massapequa, NY store and about 15 miles east of its West Hempstead store. The store will be the 79th store for the company nationally and the 32nd in the New York metropolitan area. Five other sites in New York are in various stages of development with two expected to open later this year and another six more are in development in other markets the company serves.

"The Long Island portion of the New York metro market has become increasingly important for Safeguard and this purchase will help the Company continue to develop and strengthen its name recognition outside the boroughs of New York City," said Jim Goonan, Safeguard's Executive Vice President of Development. "We have been building in New York for almost two decades."

"In addition to serving the self-storage market in this eastern section of Long Island, the Company intends to build out offices to house its Development and Operations teams and, consequently, terminate a long-held lease nearby to reduce the Company's overhead.", said Mark Degner, Chief Executive Officer.

The 60,300 leasable square-foot facility will provide 757 storage units in various sizes. Amenities at this location will include heating/air conditioning, drive-up loading area, computer-controlled building access and digital/video recording of the property.
