By: Develop Africa This author talk with author and local teacher James Ryan Orr and special guest Colleen is on Saturday, August 11 at 2:00 PM in the Jones Meeting Room at the Johnson City Public Library, 100 West Millard Street Johnson City, Tennessee 37604. This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, and no registration is required. Pam Murray, Adult Services Clerk at the Johnson City Public Library, says, "James Ryan Orr's passion about this topic is contagious! I read The Pencil Project and found it short, easy to read, and captivating." Although the story is fictionalized, The Pencil Project reflects a real project undertaken by one of Orr's students, Colleen. Sylvester Renner, President - Develop Africa, a non-profit organization located in Johnson City, will also attend and discuss how Colleen's pencils were delivered to students in Africa.
