PARSIPPANY, N.J. - Aug. 21, 2018 - PRLog -- In response to the work of Lutheran Social Services of New York (LSSNY) in reunifying immigrant children with their parents this summer, Caring Capital, a philanthropic team-building company, spearheaded a joint enterprise with its corporate clients, including Human Capital Consultants, A.J. O'Connor Associates (AJO), to help immigrant children served at LSSNY. Caring Capital President Susie Schub reached out to LSSNY President and CEO Damyn Kelly and learned about LSSNY's Safe Haven Program, which provides shelter and temporary foster care services to children who arrive in the United States without a parent or guardian. Kelly and Schub agreed that custom decorated backpacks would provide instant comfort to these children.

Caring Capital invited its corporate clients to help ease the burden these children face through its Backpack Bundles initiative. AJO and other area companies created approximately 60 Backpack Bundles for immigrant children in LSSNY's Safe Haven Program. Volunteering employees decorated and customized each backpack with themes, such as a ladybug theme, and filled them with hand-decorated journals, caps, clothes, books, toys and other fun items.

According to Shannon O'Connor Bock of Human Capital Consulting firm A.J. O'Connor Associates,

"We are a third generation family-owned business with a long history of supporting disadvantaged children in our community. When we heard about Caring Capital's goal to produce a Backpack Bundle for 60 migrant children in the care of Lutheran Social Services, we didn't hesitate to participate. We hope the children will be reunited with their parents as a matter of urgency and that the Backpacks bring relief to them in the interim."

Caring Capital President Susie Schub stressed that it's not too late for companies who want to get involved and they should contact her if interested in this corporate philanthropic initiative. She noted,

"Caring Capital applauds the companies that opted so quickly to help immigrant children removed from their parents. This generosity touched not just the children, but employees who salute their employers for their commitment to service too. More than 500 immigrant children remain abandoned in the US, hoping to be reunited with their families, so it's not too late to get involved in this charitable team-building cause."

"We are grateful to Caring Capital and all of our corporate partners for their meaningful contributions to our mission of serving the most vulnerable among us with compassion, dignity, and respect," stated Damyn Kelly, LSSNY President, and CEO. "It is at the very core of LSSNY's mission to preserve and unite families."

Since its inception in 1886, LSSNY has advocated for the safety and well-being of all children. It provides shelter and temporary foster care services to children who arrive in the United States without a parent or guardian and comprehensive care for children waiting to be reunified with a suitable sponsor, such as a verified family member or a close friend with a direct relationship to the child.
