Two category 5 hurricanes struck the United States Virgin Islands, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria 14 days apart. With the approaching anniversary of the disaster, Kimberly Newton-Nichols, Public Relations Spokesperson for the Virgin Islands Freshwater Association and Sherman Browne, Chief Empowerment Officer of Aim High International discuss the Virgin Islands recovery effort.

The U.S. Virgin Islands is a territory of the United States in the Caribbean. It consists of three main islands St. Croix, St John, and St Thomas. The capital is Charlotte Amalie on the island of St. Thomas. The islands were sold to the United States by Denmark in the Treaty of the Danish West Indies of 1916.

The People's Forum is a talk show that explores controversial issues in headline news. It also covers indebt human-interest stories. It airs on pubic access television in the Bronx and Brooklyn. In Brooklyn it airs on channel 47 on Verizon and Fios, channel 1993 on Spectrum and channel 951 on Optimum. Episodes can also be seen on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/peoplestalkforum) and youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbIISsfhs_XzmqSu1j-kLuA) The show is hosted by Kwame Innis, son of Roy Innis, the late National Chairman of the Congress of Racial Equality. Kwame is a businessman and retired police officer. The show is produced at Bronxnet Studio at Lehman College in the Bronx.

Other episodes have explored various aspects of gun control, mass shootings and the future of gun rights with special guests Jason Gerald, retired NYPD SGT, Mike Timlin, gun shop owner, and Robert Hornak, former Director Queens Republican Party.  On August 28,2018, an episode will explore U.S. immigration policy and its implications on deportation and family separation. Special guests were Patricia Smith, social worker, Rafael Pazmino, attorney, and Robert Hornak, former president of Republican Party in Queens, NY.
