Southern Baptist Church & Family Mass Choir Joins Byron Cage Concert Lineup

CINCINNATI - Sept. 7, 2018 - PRLog -- Lee Chapel AME Church announced The BIG News Headline for  the 120^th Anniversary Concert featuring the world renowned "Prince of Praise" International Gospel Recording Artist, Byron Cage (The Spirit of the Lord is Here).  The exciting lineup will include The Southern Baptist Church & Family Mass Choir, Henry Benefield, RaMeco Lattimore & True Worship Chorale,  and The Men of Faith.  The concert will be at Allen Temple AME Church, 7030 Reading Road in Cincinnati on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 7PM. The Worship Leader is P. Ann Everson Price.  There will be a Pre-Show VIP Reception/Meet & Greet with Selfie Photo Ops with the Star before the concert at 6PM. VIP Tickets for Preferred Seating and the VIP Reception are $50; General Admission Tickets are $25.

The concert is part of Lee Chapel's year- long celebration of 120 years of ministry and community service in O'Bryonville, Evanston and Walnut Hills and they are inviting the Greater Cincinnati Community to join in the celebration.  Led by Pastor Kevin Cooper, the Anniversary theme is Remembering our Past and Reveling in Our Future, based on the theme scripture Joshua 4:20-24.

In 1917 the first choir of Southern Baptist Church was organized under the leadership of Ms. C. W. Williams.  Since that time, the Music Ministry of the Southern Baptist Church has been committed to ministering to the community in song.  Over the years there have been various choirs. In 1977, the choirs were organized under one Music Department and several years later the Mass Choir Ministry was formed. The Music Department has had a rich and exceptional history.  The talented and gifted Ministers of Music along with great musicians have contributed to its success and made the choir what it is today.

The Southern Baptist Church Mass Choir is currently under the musical leadership of Reverend Dan W. Larkin, Jr. who is in his 30^th year in this position. The Mass Choir has made great contributions to the spiritual life of the church and community in song.

The Southern Baptist Church Mass Choir is noted for its "Annual Choir Day Concert".   This tradition began in 1965 and continues to be the choir's highlight of the year.  The concert is held the third Sunday in October each year. The choir invites its former members to participate in this homecoming event, and the ensemble comprises The Southern Baptist Church & Family Mass Choir.

In March 2008 the Southern Baptist Church Mass Choir recorded its first CD, entitled "Come Into The House."  It was released in July the same year. On May 28, 2010 the choir was named one of the runners-up in the "I Hear Music in the Air" event that was held at the Aronoff Theater in Cincinnati, OH.  The Mass choir has performed for numerous events, most recently at venues such as Freedom Center, Black Family Reunion, and singing behind several recording artists including the late Dr. Charles Fold, Dottie Peoples and Donald Lawrence.
