Kathy Moffat, Orange Unified School District (OUSD) Board of Education Member, Seeks Re-ElectionOUSD Board Member supports school safety, superior academics, excellent teachers and leaders and school facility modernization.
"OUSD schools are amazing and we've achieved some great accolades, but the journey continues. I'm urging voters to trust me to resume my lifelong advocacy for public education and our children!" Moffat brings more than 17 years of experience in education and community servant leadership to her campaign. In addition to being a current OUSD Governing Board Member, she has led programs, teams and policy development with Orange YMCA Board of Directors, Orange County Schools Boards Association Board of Directors and the California State PTA Board of Directors. Due to her impressive background and track record, numerous Orange County-based community and political leaders including Congressman Lou Correa and Mike Alvarez, Councilman, City of Orange, have endorsed her. Moffat's top three priorities are school safety, strong academics and Measure S. First, to ensure school site safety, Moffat's focus on the school board will be to continue to provide everything from community engagement initiatives to keep children and families feel truly connected to their school, to mental health services, counseling and staff training for active shooter scenarios. Second, all OUSD students must be college or career-ready the day after they graduate. Moffat's backing of strong academics has resulted in more student access and participation in Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) classes. Under Moffat's leadership the district has also started providing SAT testing to all interested high school students to decrease the financial burden on families in the city of Orange. Finally, even before the passing of Measure S, Moffat was a strong advocate for modern building improvements to better meet instructional needs. With re-election, she will continue to work alongside educators, parents and community members to implement the measure on time and within budget.
