Marie Carter is a writer, editor and tour guide, born in Scotland and now living in Astoria, Queens. She is the author of the book The Trapeze Diaries, based on her experiences learning trapeze,and editor of Word Jig: New Fiction from Scotland.  She is a tour guide with Boroughs of the Dead, a boutique tour company devoted to strange, dark and unusual walking tours of New York City. She created and guides the tour, "Haunting Legends and Histories of Astoria" and lectures regularly at QED in Astoria. She teaches creative writing and memoir at Gotham Writers' Workshop.
