WASHINGTON - Oct. 15, 2018 - PRLog -- The Small Environmental Business Action Coalition (SEBAC) is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2018 Award for Excellence in Awarding Small Business Prime Contracts. SEBAC members have selected the U.S. Air Force, represented by the Installation and Mission Support Center (AFIMSC) and its primary subordinate units, the Air Force Installation Contracting Agency (AFICA), and the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC). SEBAC presents the award to recognize a Federal agency's demonstrated commitment to small environmental businesses.

The procurement data, researched by FEDMINE.US, was specific to NAICS codes 562910 and 541620 among Federal agencies. The data was evaluated based on the number and quality of agency procurements and the agency's overall commitment to small businesses to determine the recipient of the Award for Excellence. This evaluation is based on a pre-established set of criteria which includes three key components:

•    The agency's ability to meet or exceed projected goals for the fiscal year;
•    The agency's quality and quantity of small business awards; and
•    The agency's progress towards improvement in attaining goals (percentage increase and/or proven improvement).

We are pleased to recognize the AFIMSC and its primary subordinate units, AFICA, and AFCEC for its strong support of small environmental businesses as demonstrated by the quantity and quality of small business prime contracts.  In the Federal government fiscal year 2018, the Air Force far exceeded the SBA's statutory goal of 23% by awarding 79.8% of prime contractor dollars in NAICS 562910/541620 to small businesses. This was a significant increase from 2017 in which the agency obligated 57.8% in these NAICS codes to small businesses. We also recognize the Agencies for acknowledging the strength of the environmental small business community by setting aside major contracts, such as fence-to-fence environmental compliance and performance-based remediation contracts, for small businesses.

SEBAC President, John Dwyer and Monica Cooper, Award for Excellence Chairperson, will present the Award during SEBAC's Networking Reception and Award Presentation at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott at the Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.  The hotel is across the street from the SAME Small Business Conference at the Ernest Morial Convention Center.  Mary S. Urey-Streeper, Director, Small Business Programs Office for AFIMSC will be on hand to accept the award.

Sponsors of the Award for Excellence are ECC, KEMRON Environmental Services and PilieroMazza PLLC.
