The event is scheduled on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Volunteers can select a two-hour block of time to assist in winterizing The Land Conservancy of New Jersey's community garden. The community garden which is in its 6th season allow those who don't own property within the community a dedicated space to grow organic produce. Additionally, gardeners have donated more than 2,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to local food pantries since 2015, helping to provide healthy meals to people in their own community who don't have enough to eat. "Through our community garden, our members have generously provided organic vegetables to food pantries who ensure urban communities have access to fresh and healthy produce," says Barbara McCloskey, membership & outreach manager for The Land Conservancy of New Jersey. "We're looking for volunteers who can assist us with basic tasks such as spreading woodchips and overturning the soil. If we properly prepare our gardens for the winter months, it will ensure that next season is also a success," added McCloskey. Make A Difference Day is a national event to unite millions in a common mission to help improve the lives of others. It is held on the fourth Saturday in October every year. This will be The Land Conservancy's fifth year of participating.
