NCHEC Launches Health Education and Promotion Program Directory (HEPPD)

WHITEHALL, Pa. - Oct. 15, 2018 - PRLog -- The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC) has developed and launched the Health Education and Promotion Program Directory (HEPPD) which serves as a centralized source of information regarding institutions of higher education that offer undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in Health Education and Promotion.

"NCHEC leadership felt strongly that there should be at least one central source where information about Health Education and Promotion professional preparation programs can be found.   The directory will be helpful to prospective students, practitioners, faculty, and employers to locate programs." said Dr. Kerry Redican, PhD, CHES®, Chair of the NCHEC Board of Commissioners. "In addition, as it is a web-based system, the directory can be edited at any point thereafter, and any changes to program information can be made quickly by a university department chair."

The HEPPD includes the university/college name and department, majors, degrees and concentrations offered that pertain to Health Education and Promotion, a brief summary of the program, and any accreditations.   A few items to note regarding the HEPPD (1) there is no cost to entering program data nor for access to the directory and; (2) a program listing in the HEPPD does not indicate automatic qualification for students to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) examination.  Individual transcripts will still need to be reviewed to determine exam eligibility.  NCHEC does not pre-approve university programs.
