Follow on Google News | 5k To End Child Homelessness In Piedmont Park5th annual drawchange 5k raises funds to empower Atlanta homeless children through the use of art.
By: drawchange For the fifth year in a row, this fundraiser will bring the Atlanta community together to raise money to empower homeless children to follow their dreams through the use of art. The power of this Atlanta 501(c)(3) organization is that it gives children an opportunity to see a life outside of their current circumstances, making a positive impact on their and their family's lives. Start your Halloween weekend in the best possible way with the ones you love, getting some fitness in and celebrating this great cause. You may also register as a virtual runner or donate as well. "I appreciate the heart and dedication that the volunteers put in to coming out and making our kids happy" a drawchange mom shared at the 3rd Annual drawchange 5k, "it puts them in a different atmosphere while they're going through change." Moments like this are the driving force and motivation behind what drawchange has been doing in the community since inception in 2009. The drawchange 5k is the organization's largest fundraiser of the year. It is a fundraising event that enables founder and CEO Jennie Lobato to increase outreach in the Atlanta community and put a drop in the bucket to help end homelessness. There are a lot of aspects of this 5k that sets it apart, from the passionate team of 100% volunteers, to the talented artists and musicians lining the route, to the exciting prizes and handmade gifts from the drawchange children. The drawchange 5k would not be the event it is without incredible returning and new sponsors such as Blick Art Materials, Simon Law Firm, and many others. These generous community partners continue to provide drawchange with the funding that makes it possible to implement the many art programs that they run throughout the year. Combining her passion for art and children, Lobato saw a way to empower children to believe they can be anything they want to be by creating an arts program that provides an outlet for their talents. Through a diverse curriculum of empowering art therapy-based projects, homeless children are provided with the tools and support often missing in their personal lives. The change in drawchange encourages each child to imagine and prepare for a brighter future. End
