Neon Music Introduces Music and Mental Health Series

LONDON - Oct. 30, 2018 - PRLog -- There is strong evidence to support the link between music and mental wellbeing and Neon Music is running a new series about music and how it can help with mental health issues. We started the series on the 10th October which was World Mental Health Day 2018 and featured a blog post about how beneficial music can be as therapy to one of our writers who was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder.

We are publishing various articles about this subject and how music can help from dissecting various albums and artists to revealing the best headphones and how the science of sound can make a massive difference in how you listen to music and combatting listening anxiety. We also have playlists with songs to fit this theme and feature artists where this subject is very close to their hearts and inspires some of their music.

We premiered the new single from singer-songwriter Josh Vine whose song 'Ghost' is about someone struggling with their mental health, and how it begins to affect their relationship with someone else. The recent single from ECKOES 'Hurricane of Storms' encapsulates the mood of the artist: music as a force to fight pain and deals with mental health. She worked with Help Musicians UK for World Mental Health Day and told Neon Music, "I'm supporting music and mental health awareness because the highs and lows you go through as a musician...It's important that we really look after our minds".

We also interviewed Australian pop artist NELSØNN whose latest release 'Try' which is about coping with anxiety and depression. He said during the interview, "I'm not sure if this generation battles more with mental health than previous generations, or whether it just seems that way because we are all much more connected now with social media, and technology. I do think that social media can agitate a feeling of isolation; We, as humans, need genuine human interaction".

We have featured New York dark pop-rock duo Matty Carter + Ariel who are very passionate and open about struggles with mental health and previously created a documentary 'Creating With Depression'. Matty Carter says, "On my darkest days, when life doesn't make sense and nothing can make me happy… Music makes me feel human again. Music makes me feel again. Music gives me purpose and makes me feel fulfilled. I don't know why – and I think musicians have chased this feeling for as long as we have existed – and there are no words that can be put together to give a concrete answer – But music just makes me feel good. Makes me feel alive".

With mental health issues becoming more prevalent and spoken about it is important a platform such as Neon Music shares these thoughts and can act as a beacon of hope to those in need.
