SOMERVILLE, Mass. - Nov. 6, 2018 - PRLog -- The Boston-based Ensemble Aubade (Peter H. Bloom, flute; Francis Grimes, viola; Mary Jane Rupert, piano) will tour seven cities in the Southeast with exuberant chamber music spanning many styles and centuries:    Piece de Clavecin en Concert V (1741) by Jean-Philippe Rameau; Quartet for Keyboard, Flute and Viola Wq 94 (1788) by C.P.E Bach; Trio Opus 63 (1819) by Carl Maria von Weber; and Postcards to Old Friends (1966) by Robert Russell Bennett, and Oxygen Footprint (2016) written for Ensemble Aubade by Karl Henning.

Ensemble Aubade concertizes across the United States, winning praise for stellar musicianship and vibrant performances.  The group has been hailed for "intensity, imagination, skill, and finesse" (St. Lawrence University).

Peter H. Bloom (flute, alto flute, bass flute, piccolo) concertizes in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand; is featured on 45 recordings; and has given workshops, master classes and lecture-demos across the globe.  He is contributing editor for Noteworthy Sheet Music and is a winner of the American Musicological Society's Noah Greenberg Award.   His career encompasses diverse chamber music from the Renaissance to the 21st century, as well as jazz standards, blues, bebop, free improvisation, and the avant-garde.  The Boston Globe called his playing "a revelation for unforced sweetness and strength," while Jazz Improv hailed his "exquisite melody…the improvisations growing organically out of the theme" and ArtsFuse wrote, "His solos on flute and amplified flute are always highlights of a performance."

Francis Grimes, viola, has performed with the Boston Pops, Boston Opera, Boston Ballet, Masterworks Chorale and other distinguished ensembles; toured nationally with the Star Wars Orchestra; and performed with choral groups in Italy, England and the Czech Republic. He completed his BM at Indiana University as a student of William Primrose.

Mary Jane Rupert, piano, praised by The New York Times as exhibiting "indeed real sensitivity," has performed throughout the world from Carnegie Recital Hall to the Beijing Concert Hall. She has appeared with chamber ensembles, choral groups and orchestras across the United States.  She serves on the faculties of Boston College and Tufts University and taught previously at MIT, Wellesley College, and Western Michigan University, among others.
