CHICAGO - Nov. 8, 2018 - PRLog -- A 2018 study done by the Switzerland-based company IWG, found that roughly 70 percent of working professionals spend at least one day a week telecommuting, or working remotely. Just over 50 percent said they work at least half of the week remotely.

Through the development of smartphones, conference calls, Skype, and other services that keep people connected, it has never been as easy to work outside of the office as it is today. There are many appeals to working from home, but it also isn't as easy as it looks. Working remotely is not for everyone, but if it is something you would like to do, Global Resources (http://gr-us.com) Reviews has a few tips to help you out.

Plan Out Your Day

One of the best habits to get into if you are working outside of the office is to plan out your day. Either first thing in the morning or the night before, make a list of all the tasks that you need to complete by the end of the day. Prioritize based on importance, putting the more important jobs at the top.

Having that visual reminder of everything you need to achieve will help you stay on task. If you leave it to memory, you run into the chance of forgetting something. Have that list handy to remind yourself of what you need to do.

Get Ready for Work

Even if you're staying at home, getting yourself ready to go for work helps to remind you that you have a job to do. When you get up, get showered and dressed like you usually do to help keep your routine. Otherwise, you may find yourself sleeping in and procrastinating.

Create an Office

An essential point for working from home is to have a legitimate office space for you. Working at the kitchen table may be fine until the rest of the family comes home. You need to have an area in which you can shut the door and keep yourself free from distractions.

Your Office is Your Workplace

When you have your office space, treat it as your workplace. That means reminding friends, family, and yourself that you are at work. Refrain from allowing friends to come over and interrupt your workday. Setting boundaries are crucial.

If you have kids at home, it isn't a bad idea to invest in childcare, even if it is only for part of the week or day. You cannot work and watch your kids every minute of the day. Sending your children to daycare or having a babysitter watch them will allow you to focus solely on your work.

Set Your Hours

To keep yourself in the habit of being at work even though you're home, set yourself working hours. Your office hours, just like they would be at the office, will help you stay away from the distractions of being at home, and if you have unexpected phone calls or visitors.

Your working hours should be strictly for work. That also means trying to refrain from scheduling non-work related appointments throughout the day. When you set your hours, you know when you should be working, and when it's okay to relax and get out of the house for a bit.
