The South Sinai District Court issued Arrest Order No. 1/2018, executed by Chief Judge Yasser Arafah on October 23, 2018. Under a precedent setting decision for the region, Judge Arafah's Warrant (No. 2072), disallows release of the tugboat under any financial guarantee and grants permission to the claimant Ships and Boats Oil Services LLC of Cairo Egypt, to continue management and operations pursuant to contractual obligations under its Tender Agreement with Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel), pending final settlement of the $791,927.40 USD claim. MMLS Executive Director, Said Mamdouh (سعيد ممدوح عبد المقصود) filed the claim after repeated attempts by Zouros, operating under its subsidiary, Aigaion Maritime, Inc. and represented by Thessaloniki, Greece in-house counsel, Alexandros Leventakis, to countermand and relocate the tugboat at a higher rate, resorting to allegations of an organized crew mutiny and piracy in the Gulf of Suez; the latter being ludicrous given that the petroleum rich region is protected under the highest levels of security by Egyptian Naval Forces. Zouros further alleged that the tugboat's Lloyd's registry would be threatened and further claimed that the P&I insurance policy, including Blue Card, Anti-Pollution, etc., was invalid. Post-arrest, Leventakis flew directly to Cairo and is currently participating in settlement negotiations. The 2010 Indonesia built 40-meter Dionysios Z sails under a Panama flag. MMLS extends its appreciation for the services of Police Chief Ahmed Khedr, for his assistance in execution of the arrest and Bouchra Rebiai, CEO of Aurora Hikma, a digital agency specializing in Arabic translation for her stellar services (http://www.aurorahikma.com).
