CALLING OENOPHILES: WINE TASTING AT THE JAGDHOF

Rare bottles from Rioja and Bordeaux uncorked at 5-star SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof's third wine tasting, 23 – 27 January 2019.

On 23 to 27 January 2019, 5* SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof in Austria's Stubai Valley near Innsbruck will host its third wine tasting of rare wines – including some exceptional up to 90-year-old bottles priced up to €2,500 from wineries including Marqués de Riscal, Vega Sicilia, Château Lynch-Bages and Château Cos d'Estournel. This  luxury hideaway is an ideal location for this event: the hotel's exclusive wine cellar, awarded 20 out of 20 Falstaff (https://www.falstaff.at/ld/r/hubertusstube-jagdhof-neustift/) points in 2018, houses 1,250 different wines, including rarities and collections of Romanée Conti and Château Mouton-Rothschild.  Prices: 3-nights ½-board accommodation, 3 wine-tastings and extensive inclusive services from €2,439 per person; 4 nights with 4 wine-tastings from €2,735.  Reservations: hotel-jagdhof.at / +43 5226 2666.

Enjoy world-class wines at four tastings in the 5-star SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof

The tasting extravaganza begins with rarities from the Marqués de Riscal winery in Spain's Rioja region, including the exquisite 1925, 1942, 1954 and 1958 vintages of Riscal Rioja Reserva DOCa, Riscal Rioja Gran Reserva DOCa from 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1987 and more recent vintages of Riscal Baron de Chirel Rioja Reserva DOCa (2004, 2010 and 2012). Château Lynch-Bages will be represented by the finest vintages from 1945 to 1995, and Lynch-Bages 2000 will be one of the accompanying wines. The legendary Spanish winery Vega Sicilia, described by Robert Parker as 'a benchmark for the world's great red wines', will be represented by Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º, a pure variant of 'Tinto Fino', the Vega Sicilia Unico Gran Reserva vintage wine and Vega Sicilia Unico Reserva Especial, a blended wine.  The grand finale will come with a Bordeaux from Château Cos d'Estournel (Saint-Estéphe), including the excellent 1990 and 2003 vintages, while the 1928 will provide the greatest surprise! Chef Boris Meyer, known for his work at Noma, will present an accompanying gourmet menu tailored to the wine list. The tastings are arranged by the Jagdhof's sommelier Albin Mayr with comments and explanation from the Morandell family and Elke Drescher of Rare Bordeaux-Weine.

An oenophile's treasure trove: the SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof wine cellar

The lavish wine cellar is one of only three in Austria to have received the maximum three stars from British magazine The World of Fine Wine and the coveted 20 out of 20 Falstaff points. With around 20,000 bottles of 1,250 different wines, the cellar is one of the best in Austria, with delectable rarities from Bordeaux and Burgundy and extensive collections from Romanée Conti and Château Mouton-Rothschild, two of the world's most renowned wineries.
