Follow on Google News | New Plays by UMass Dartmouth Students To Be Presented At The Reading StageThe 8th Reading Stage @ UMass Dartmouth presents public readings of ten-minute plays by UMass Dartmouth Students, as a part of a service learning activity in arts and civic engagement.
By: UMass Dartmouth English Dept The Reading Stage, which began as a program with New African Company in Boston back in the 1990s was brought to UMass Dartmouth in 2010 by Associate English Professor Mwalim (Morgan James Peters) as a service learning activity in arts and civic dialogue, in cooperation with the Leduc Center for Civic Engagement. Students collaborate with directors and actors to develop and present public readings of their original ten-minute plays. Arts & Civic Engagement is a service learning curriculum developed by Mwalim, based on the Federal Theatre Project of the 1930's. This year's plays include: "Love & Bullet" By Peter Owusu Directed by Trina Ruffin "Advice Between Friends" By Nikolas Fuentes Directed by Paige Zora "Say Her Name" By Daina Ricketts Directed by Paige Zora "A Weekend Getaway" by Zachary R Hodges Directed by Dylan Deflorio "Three the Hard Way" By Trina Moals- Ruffin Directed by Christina E. "The Secret of Somerville" by Marissa Brum Director: Nicole Ochoa "The Fraudulent Father" By Nicole Ochoa Directed by Marissa Brum "The Last Supper" By David Waiyaki Directed by Daniel Kangethe "Behind The Smiles, Where The Lie Lies" By Jada Gordon Directed by Domonique "Mind of My Own" by Jillian Yates Directed by Jonathan Perreira "Alex" By Paige E.
