Follow on Google News | Part of the Solution (POTS) Welcomes a New Executive DirectorBy: Part of the Solution "As a loving community in the Bronx neighborhood where I was raised, POTS nourishes the basic needs and hungers of all who come to its door," said Guevara. "I am deeply honored and inspired to continue leading the efforts towards assisting individuals living in poverty by availing them of tools and skills for their own self-determination, as they progress in their journeys from crisis to stability and ultimately self-sufficiency." "On behalf of the POTS Board of Directors we are thrilled to have hired someone as experienced and talented as Alicia Guevara to lead us into the future. She brings an exciting energy and level of compassion for the wonderful work being done at POTS by our outstanding staff and volunteers. We could not be more pleased with her arrival!" said Mark Miller, POTS Board Chair. Most recently, Alicia served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Brooklyn Children's Museum. Prior to that, Alicia was Executive Director of Year Up New York, a youth workforce organization supporting urban young adults reach their potential through professional careers and higher education. She has also held roles as Director of Development for The Osborne Association and Abyssinian Development Corporation. Alicia is a graduate of Columbia University. She has tremendous passion for The Bronx, where she grew up and currently lives with her husband and two children. Part of the Solution (POTS) would also like to thank Christina Hanson for leading the organization during this transition as Interim Executive Director, and congratulate her and her family on the recent birth of her second daughter. We look forward to her returning to her role as Deputy Executive Director after her parental leave. About Part of the Solution (POTS): For more than 35 years, POTS has been a mainstay of the Bronx, providing emergency food, social services, and legal representation to low-income families and individuals. As one of the borough's largest non-profits, POTS will serve more than 30,000 people, including 8,000 children, this year alone. Please check out our website at www.potsbronx.org. End
