The SearStone/Lutheran Services Carolinas Community Benefit Committee has announced Wake County area grant awards of $311,000, benefiting 15 organizations. The awards bring the total disbursement for calendar year 2018 to more than $553,000. Since the inception of the grants in 2014, $2,070,648.20 has been awarded. The following organizations received awards this grant cycle: Transitions LifeCare (Hospice of Wake County) ($60,000); Meals on Wheels of Wake County ($55,000); The Caring Community Foundation ($35,000); Habitat for Humanity of Wake County ($35,000); Triangle Family Services ($25,000); Women's Center of Wake County ($17,000); Pretty in Pink Foundation ($15,000); The Shepherd's Table Soup Kitchen ($12,500); Note in the Pocket ($10,500); Triangle Aphasia Project Unlimited ($10,000); Ship Community Outreach ($10,000); Temple's Table ($8,000); Alliance Medical Ministry ($7,000); Rebuilding Together of the Triangle ($6,000); and Dorcas Ministries ($5,000). Lutheran Services Carolinas, based in Salisbury, N.C., is a nonprofit health and human services organization serving seniors in North Carolina as well as children and families across North and South Carolina. SearStone is a nonprofit retirement community in Cary. Together, LSC and SearStone work to improve the lives of Wake County citizens by directing a portion of SearStone revenues to benefit area nonprofit organizations serving seniors, indigent seniors, or other vulnerable populations.
