HOUSTON - Dec. 24, 2018 - PRLog -- Sig's Lagoon Record Shop is a cozy record shop in Midtown Houston named after Sigman Byrd. The store's namesake is inspired by the book "Sig Byrd's Houston." Sig Byrd wrote for the Houston Press and the Houston Chronicle in the late 50's & 60's. Much of Sig Byrd's writings focused on the culture of the Fifth Ward & Downtown Houston  at the time aka Catfish Reef. "Lagoon" was a term used by the beatniks of the time period. It is synonymous to "cool."

Sigman Byrd teaches writing at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Sigman Byrd is the author of Under the Wanderer's Star, which won the Marsh Hawk Press Poetry Prize for "Who We Were", a chapbook of poems.

Sig's Lagoon Record Shop sell new & used vinyl, art prints  by Derek Yaniger, Tiki mugs, bobbleheads, books, CDs, collectibles, Houston-centric items, Continental Club tickets & merchandise. Sig's Lagoon Record Shop also buys Vinyl Records.
