Reduce Waste and Increase Productivity—Weighing at the Speed of Lights In Tough Environments

With a durable structure, high-speed response times and exceptional check weighing capabilities, the HV-CWP/HW-CWP series of waterproof platform scales can meet the demands of even the most challenging industrial applications.

TOKYO, Japan - Dec. 24, 2018 - PRLog -- A&D Company, Limited, a multinational manufacturer of measuring instruments for laboratory and industrial use, is proud to introduce the successor to their long-selling HV-WP/HW-WP series of waterproof platform scales, the HV-CWP/HW-CWP series. Geared mainly toward food and beverage factories, this new product helps improve production efficiency with higher performance and more user-friendly features.

Maximizing throughput under wet conditions

The HV-CWP/HW-CWP series, as with its predecessor, is IP65 dust and waterproof and has stainless steel (SUS304) surface, preventing downtime and loss due to water damage to the scale. These features also allow easy washing with water to keep the scale clean and hygienic.

The response speed has become much faster. With the HV-CWP series of three multi-interval models (capacity × readability: 3/6/15 kg × 0.001/0.002/0.005 kg, 15/30/60 kg × 0.005/0.01/0.02 kg, and 60/150/220 kg × 0.02/0.05/0.1 kg), it typically takes only 1 second or less. Even with the HW-CWP series of four high-resolution models (capacity × readability: 10 kg × 0.001 kg, 60 kg × 0.005 kg, 100 kg × 0.01 kg, and 220 kg × 0.02 kg), users can read the measured value in as quickly as 1.5 seconds or less.

On top of that, the HV-CWP/HW-CWP series is now equipped with highly intuitive, 5-step LED comparator (traffic) lights. Use of such multi-color signals makes check weighing (judging whether the measured weight is within the designated limits for packing, filling, etc.) far more accurate and efficient than with a numeric display alone, leading to a significant cost reduction.

The scale can perform tare automatically when the weight reaches the set target range. Additionally, negative values can be used as comparator limits. These functions when combined enable "take-away" check weighing, that is, removing a target amount repeatedly from its container with no key press.

Hassle & error-free operations

The HV-CWP/HW-CWP series also protects operators from fatigue and errors. The LCD display (26 mm character height) with clear white backlight provides excellent visibility even in areas with insufficient lighting. The display hold function makes it easy to read and record measured values where external disturbances can cause fluctuations. The display angle is freely adjustable to suit the convenience of individual operators. If necessary, a display unit holder is available as an option to install the display unit separately from the scale.

The alphanumeric keypad on the display unit allows simple and straightforward entering/re-entering of preset tare values, comparator limits, calibration values and various internal settings. Further, using the key lock function, a factory manager can inhibit the use of certain keys to prevent operators from making unwanted changes to the scale settings.

The counting mode is useful for counting a number of small pieces of the same mass value instantly and precisely, while the accumulation (M+) function is useful for displaying the sum total of separate weighing results. Optional roller conveyers placed on the weighing pan can make measurements of heavy objects in conveyer systems smoother and quicker.

Flexible data communication

The HV-CWP/HW-CWP series has two slots on the backside of its display unit into which users can install optional data communication interfaces easily and safely by themselves.

One slot is for a comparator relay output/buzzer interface, which enables signaling of check weighing results by buzzer and/or external comparator (traffic) lights. The other is for either USB interface or RS-232C interface for outputting data, entering commands, and changing the scale settings externally. The scale is still IP65 with the comparator relay output/buzzer interface and/or RS-232C interface installed (except if a loose-wire cable is used for connection).

For documentation required by GMP/GLP, the scale can output its manufacturer, model, serial number, ID number (six alphanumeric characters to be set by users), date & time, space for signature, etc., for calibration report, calibration test report, and title & end blocks for a series of weighing results. Meanwhile, the Universal Flexi Coms (UFC) function lets users edit serial data output format or printout format.
