Apsley Comes out Top for Commuters

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, U.K. - Jan. 22, 2019 - PRLog -- The town of Apsley near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire has come first in Trussle's list of most affordable (and most expensive) London commuter towns of 2019, thanks to its low house prices and short commuting time.

The monetary value for the Apsley commute was estimated to be £1,446 per month compared to the most expensive commuter town of Oxshott in Surrey, priced at £7,934 per month.

With the recent hike in rail fares, Trussle wanted to know how commuters travelling into the City of London would be affected by the increase. In comparing over 300 towns, Apsley scored top points due to its relatively short commute time of 52 minutes (both ways) and low house prices. According to Zoopla, the average house price in Apsley is £228,030.

Apsley dates back to the 19th Century and is going through a period of regeneration. Laying within the Chiltern Hills with the Rivers Gade and Bulbourne running alongside, it features scenic canal walks and a vibrant marina. It is famous for Frogmore Paper Mill, the oldest surviving mechanical paper mill in the world and houses the delightful Shendish Manor Hotel & Golf Course, with its orangery, formal gardens and parkland.

The Online Mortgage Broker analysed house prices, mortgage payments, and rail season ticket costs across more than 300 towns within a 75-minute journey of central London in order to rank the 20 leading commuting hotspots, while also disclosing the 10 least affordable locations.
