Her extensive and varied background in performance and songwriting has culminated in an emotional new project, as well as a visually stunning new music video in the works. "This song is about the extraordinary in the ordinary," says Malea about the inspiration for the single. Uplifting lyrics like "anyone can be a hero" are backed by music that inspires and allows the message to shine through. Malea goes on to dedicate "HERO" to "all the people doing amazing things every day, all the people who have helped me and have been my heroes" "HERO" was written by Malea McGuinness and Elaine Macaluso and performed by Malea McGuinness. Throughout her career, which has included a year on Broadway in "The King and I" and touring around the United States with many different acts, Malea has always drawn inspiration from the people around her who work tirelessly to support causes she's passionate about, like stopping animal cruelty and women's rights. During the time she was touring, Malea raised money for Humane Societies across the US. Her passion for animal rights has led her to volunteer her time with multiple organizations. She continues to write and record new music and use her platform to speak out about the causes that are most important to her. About Malea Born in Ft. Hood, Texas, and currently based in Los Angeles, musician Malea is of Korean and Irish descent. As a child, she spent several years living in Korea, as well as growing up with her Grandparents in Long Island, New York. Being exposed to different cultures from such a young age helped Malea develop awareness and empathy, which have fueled her passion to stand up for causes like animal rights, the environment, and politics.
