How to manage the high cost of a college education without incurring massive debt

LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill. - Feb. 2, 2019 - PRLog -- The cost of college has increased almost eight times faster than wages, making a college education out of reach for many Chicagoland families. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the average cost per year is just over $19,000 for a public university, and that figure jumps to $40,000 for a private university.

The solution, according to Kurt Osterheld of Huntington Learning Center Lake in the Hills, could be merit-based scholarships. Osterheld says, "It is possible to send students to college without going broke as long as you invest in preparing them academically." Osterheld will discuss academic preparation for merit-based scholarships at a seminar on March 5, 2019. Lora Georgieva, Certified College Planner with Destination College, will be on hand to explain proven strategies to maximize admission and financial aid opportunities, how to negotiate your child's tuition and more. Last year college prep students who worked with Osterheld's learning center reported receiving over $1.3 million in scholarship money.

The "How to Send Your Student to College Without Going Broke Seminar" takes place Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Dino's Pizza located at 6 Miller Rd in Lake in the Hills.
